Got married on April 26 in LA to charming Grace whose family lives on the West Coast. We both work and live in Tokyo and enjoy Japan a lot. Enclosed is a picture blown by the wind!" ● Lidia (HwaSoon) Anchisi wrote: "Got married last year, July 21st in Italy (Pinerolo) to Mark Hopkins. We are both professors at Gettysburg College, PA since 2002. I teach Italian language and culture in the French/Italian dept, Mark teaches economics. Expecting our first child in December of this year." ● Christophe Charlier wrote: "After graduating from Wharton, I worked at JP Morgan for two years and then moved to Russia, where I have now lived for ten years. It's an artisanal wine brokerage that represents boutique wines selling in the $8-25 range. Prior to joining Farallon®, Mr. Giauque worked in the investment banking and asset management divisions of Goldman Sachs for four years in Hong Kong and Singapore. Mr. Giauque graduated with a master's degree in Management from Hautes Etudes Commerciales." The switch was both professional and personal, permitting me to spend more time with our daughter Juliette who is now four years old. She has just started her first year at the Lycée and is in Moyenne Section. My husband Bruce and I are about to celebrate our seven-year wedding anniversary. How time flies! It's wonderful to be back in the Lycée environment and the new buildings are just a breath of new life and fresh air. It's a joy to take Juliette in every day and she loves it, as do we!" ● Iman El-Banhawy wrote: "Dear Class of 1989, I miss you all so much and left you when I was only 10! I live in Geneva now and wish that we could have a reunion on this side of the Atlantic if possible. I'm so proud of our achievements. Je vous transmets donc un amical bonjour d'Annecy, France, où je me suis installé à la fin de mes études. Je travaille aujourd'hui dans le domaine de l'informatique pour le groupe anglais SAGE. Je suis marié et papa de jumeaux, Louise et Romain, qui sont nés en 2002. Mes deux années au Lycée Français restent pour moi un excellent souvenir et une période véritablement enrichissante. C'est aussi des amitiés que le temps a dénouées mais qui sont pourtant toujours «vivantes»: Ali Fekhar, Sébastien Revault d'Allones, Clara Jondot, Nicolas Giauque, Vincent Chriqui et d'autres encore. I have been working as a psychologist at Queens Hospital Center for the past two years." ● Iman El-Banhawy shared this with us: "I wish we could get together and see whether we've changed or stayed the same. I remember the people of my class vividly even though I left them when I was 10. I live in Geneva now with my husband and daughter and would love to hear all your news." ● Sidney François wrote: "After getting my Bac at the Lycee, I went to undergrad at Goucher College in Maryland where I received a BA in Communications. I studied law for a semester in France at Paris-Pantheon Assas II. I received my JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law. I worked for the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland in the Consumer Protection Division for eight and a half years as the Administrator of the Health Club Unit. Recently, I was a staff attorney in the Legal Aid Bureau representing children in need of assistance for about a year. Currently, I am the Director of Grass Roots and lobbyist for a special interest association representing seniors in Maryland and DC. As a result, I am contantly on the road. I bought a Cape Cod house in Baltimore about four years ago which I am renovating. It's good to hear that so many of my classmates are doing well. ------From June 2005 AALFNY Newsletter------ ● Michel Robert Abood wrote: "I currently run a private-equity management company that invests in luxury-related firms (fashion, wine, food, etc...). Our most recent project is a fine wine storage facility, Brix Wine Vault. The various companies are: www.MCRHolding.com, www.NovelKnit.com, www.BrixWineVault.com, TriState Lace. In addition, I graduated from Columbia University's Executive MBA program in August of 2002. I take this opportunity to inform you that I am very excited about a personal project which will bring me back to NY very soon : I will have the pleasure of giving a lecture on my ancestor, Paul Durand-Ruel, Friend and Art-Dealer of the Impressionists at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Wednesday 10th November 2004." ● Camille (Lévitte) Vernerey wrote: "After so many years...I eventually give some news! I got married in 2000 with Laurent Vernerey and we had a little boy, Adrien in February 2003. I stopped working (I was in the PR and communication business, first in Phoenix, AZ where I lived with my husband, then Paris) to take care of Adrien. I am still in contact with many friends and teachers from the Lycée. Nathalie Dassas and Caroline de Marco with whom we go to the park with their children and also Denise McConnee who was my sister's nursery teacher. As my sister now works and live in New York again and my parents in Washington DC I hope I will be visiting the new Lycée pretty soon! As for children, we have one on the way, due in August [2002]. I'm a producer with NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw here in New York and my husband is also in the TV business. After the Lycée I was in France at l'Ecole des Roches, then back to NY for my last two years of secondary school and did my Bac Inernational at the United Nations International School... I went to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and majored in English Literature. I've been at NBC since 1996 and before that I was at Fox 5 TV from 1993 to 1996.” ------From November/December 2001 AALFNY Newsletter------ ● Ariane Maître est en formation de développeur à l'AFPA (Association pour la Formation Professionnelle des Adultes) de Dunkerque. ● Mohamed Niaré went to the LFNY from 1984-1988, and went to Vienna to complete Terminale. He is presently "back in my home country Mali where I represent two Canadian mining companies( Nevsun Resources/Mali Ltd. and TAMICO s.a.). I would like to get in touch again with some of my classmates, namely Sidney François, Ali Fekhar, Patrick Barr and Rodolphe Biffoh. My father being a career diplomat and often changing countries made it very difficult to keep in touch with friends who were dear to me." ------From February/March 2001 AALFNY Newsletter------ ● Violaine Pillet vit à Paris depuis dix ans où elle a fait ses études et est devenue psychologue clinicienne.
