- Rooftop Reunion (all class years) chez les Yates

On May 31, 2006 the Yates family hosted a reunion organized by the AALFNY at their apartment on Manahattan's West Side. A few letters below from those who could not attend, as well as links to many photos of the event.

On a beautiful May evening, Mrs. Marguerite Yates and her children --John ('70), Marguerite ('71), Christopher ('73), Jeremy ('74) and Natalie ('78)-- graciously provided their rooftop terrace once again for another spectacular Lycee party. This time, though, the participants were not high school students but a slightly more mature group of alumni. About 100 alumni attended this cocktail party who represented the full range of all class years, starting with Maurice Raviol ('44), one of the original founders of the Alumni Association.

Over delicious hors d’oeuvres and plenty of wine, conversation flowed freely and covered events spanning almost six decades of school memories. Some anciens profs were in attendance and other teachers and surveillants were fondly remembered. A message board was on display with notes from all the alumni who sent could not attend and sent their regrets (reprinted below).

Guests admired the unobstructed Central Park view and lingered on until way past sunset, reminiscing about recent and more faraway times. Many introductions were made and business cards exchanged. And the question repeated over and over again as people left was “When is the next alumni party?”

● "How I wish I could get there for the reunion, but unfortunately I am so busy just at present that I'm afraid it's impossible. But another time, perhaps! I'd love to get to know some of you with whom I've been in correspondence but still haven't met. Think of me, and I'll be thinking of all of you. Special greetings also to my former classmate, Maurice Raviol, who I believe does plan to attend. When next in New York, perhaps I'll get to see you all.
Best and warmest wishes."
Gabrielle Griswold '44

● "I am very sorry not to be able to attend the party. But then I imagine that not many of my classmates from the years 1942-4 will be there, or even remember me. Although I am still in touch with Kevin Egan!"

I spent a few days in NY with my daughter late April/early May, and we did see a few Alumni - Ronald Grelsamer '71, André Cappon '66, Sylvia Flescher '70. Alas, much as I would have liked to, my boss (= yours truly) didn't let me stay in town until next Wednesday. So, on the 31st, we - that includes my dear wife, Anne, née de Grenier , also Class of '71 - shall raise our glasses toward the setting sun here in France and drink a toast to you all at the Yates Penthouse (fond memories. Pensées amicales"
