Following our small Class of 1975 reunion in Paris which took place last February 18th, we had a major event in New York City on November 19th. Attendance was high: approximately 30 class mates made it, including welcome friends from other classes: Diane Rivers and Georges Malafatopoulos (with his wife Nancy) from Class of 1974, Natalie Yates of 1978 (with husband Richard Cacciato and son), and Nicholas Haimo and Marc Jensen from Class of 1976.

Some of us came all the way from Europe, while many traveled from far away U.S. states to make it. High fliers and jet setters Seth Lewis and Marco Elser flew in from Europe via places like Bangkok/Caracas and Singapore.

How can you tell if a party works out well? After all, this was a risky gamble as it could have easily turned out into a dull and slow evening, especially if you find out that you really don’t have anything to say to each other after 30 years.

What happened? Well, one excellent sign is when you start meeting at 5:30 PM and the restaurant staff has to literally kick you out at 11:30 PM since no one had any intention to stop, and then the pub you walk into after that again has to invite you to leave at 1:30 AM.

We had a ball!!!

It was fun, but it was also emotional: 30 years were blown away in a few minutes and, there we were, chatting away, joking, laughing as if we had just come out of the lycée after classes for a couple of beers. On the other hand, we were a very “tight” class at the time, and this was reflected in the evening’s atmosphere and outcome.

There will be a follow-up reunion in Paris in early 2006, supposedly to celebrate Renault’s victory in last year’s Formula 1 championship; after 7 straight years of Ferrari triumphs, I will be happy to offer drink to Renault fans for this, especially since this will be their last celebration. We will circulate information concerning this event and – as is the tradition with the 1975 Promotion – everybody will be welcome.

Finally, Philippe Duleyrie has promised to organize a new, large reunion for the Class of 1975 in Paris at the latest in 2 years.

Belated thanks to Andrea and Alexandra for organizing and to Benoit, Luc and Diane for the photos!

You all looked great and Madison Ave the next day never looked lovelier at least at 11:30 when I started recovering.

As I was probably known for in my youth, I will run on a bit here and take the time to catch up.

Where I've lived since Lycee...Philadelphia, Brussels, Lausanne, Zurich, New York, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Ojai California, New York, London, Washington, London with a lot of business travel to Northern Germany and Aix en Provence. My current address is the longest I've had since growing up and after four years we've decided to sell the flat.

Where I live now...London straight down Kensington High Street, conveniently seven stops from Picadilly and an hour's reverse commute to our offices in Windsor

Family...My wife Jacqui who is a management consultant studying psychotherapy.

What I do...after a long time in hotel and restaurant operations, spent a number of years in different disciplines within the hospitality industry - designing cruise ships, working for an internet startup, rebranding and sorting out catering for a British train company...thrilled to be back in the hotel industry for InterContinental as part of the brand team...working on rolling out a program to connect our 40,000 employees with the brand, and getting some decent soap in our bathrooms among other things but principally through our advertising asking customers Do you live an intercontinental life? This is a great opportunity for the world's most mature MBA graduate...A trip back into operations sometime may be in the cards.

What I love most...Working with a broad team to look after guests and helping people make the most of a destination...Getting home and making risotto (I do love to cook)

What I miss most about New York...Matzoh Ball Soup and seeing the Yankees in real time.

Lots more to tell...so little time...Let's not leave it another 30 years
Happy to buy anyone a glass of wine in London or wherever anytime!

All the best

Seth
