Letter from the CouncilSpring/Summer 2004Alessandra Gagliardi ’86President, Alumni Council of the Alumni Association of the Lycée Français de New York, Inc. It has been a great year for all of us here at the AALFNY, with even more activity than in the past. Hundreds of email requests from alumni seeking their classmates were received, and many wrote to let us know that our Find-a-Classmate service had helped them reconnect with their old friends. Others shared fond memories of their Lycée years, which are printed in various sections of this newsletter. We continued to increase our visibility within the French-American Community, by collaborating with other Franco-American non profit organizations and in showing a strong Alumni Association presence at high-profile events. I had the pleasure of serving on the Executive Committee of the officia Bastille Day Ball in New York City, held for the first time ever, at four different venues. Members of your Council hosted visiting alumni and built up our alumni photo gallery, but we take greatest pride in the three Class Reunions and other “mini-events” that we helped to organize; we sent “email blasts” to members of those class years, and shared other information with reunion organizers that helped make their events a smashing success. We extend our congratulations to alumni of the Classes of '69, '74 and '94, who celebrated their anniversaries in style! Read more about their events in our "Alumni Spotted" section. We hope that others will be inspired to start planning their own anniversary reunion, for example alumni of the classes of '55, '70, '85, ’00, whose anniversaries occur in 2005. The AALFNY is here to help: We can work together to locate "lost" classmates, send out email blasts on your behalf, provide mailing labels for postcard invitations, and even suggest restaurants and other venues. We have also become experts at working on shoestring budgets! So, remember that the volunteer alumni who currently manage the AALFNY are at your service! Keep sending us those email-address requests, and do not hesitate to ask for assistance in planning your events. The 2002-20004 Alumni Council consists of your elected representatives: Alessandra Gagliardi '86 (President), Roger Liwer '68 (Executive Vice President), Stephen Allen '80 and Vannessa (Kelmans) Kaufman '74 (Vice Presidents), Robert Kulick '74 (Treasurer), Micheline Dugué '87 (Secretary) and members-at-large: Claude Chaouloff '75 (NY), Philip L. Engelhardt '66 (California), Gabrielle Griswold '44 (New Hampshire), Harold Hyman '77 (Paris), Peter Laurence '69 (Rome), Xavier Noel '76 (NJ), William Rodarmor '60 (California), Isabelle Sajous '94 (NY).
