Lycée Alums Burn up the Vermont Slopes

Nicolas Boillot '83

Druce Vertes '83 organized a ski event this winter. Lycée alums got together in Killington, Vermont, in February 2004.

In order for all the skiers to meet, a pre-trip meet-and-greet took place a few days earlier, at a tiny crêperie downtown.

Other alumni skiers from New York were Stéphane Lautner '98, Alex Gagliardi '86, and Eric Gotthelf '74. Nicolas Boillot '83 joined us from Boston.

Alessandra, who helped with the invitations, mysteriously ended up being the only single woman! Memorable moments and components included Stéphane's leap off a small cliff (the skis were attached before AND after the jump), Nicolas' 21-year-old Scotch, Eric's attachment to Nicolas' 21-year old Scotch, Alex's color-coordinated combo, Druce's four-letter vocabulary in the moguls, and a great deal of pilot-talk which was patiently tolerated by the non-pilots in the group. Meals were a boisterous affair, both at the chalet as well as at the slopeside lodge. Walkie talkies proved quite useless in the quest to regroup for slopeside lunches, but the gang managed to reunite quite by coincidence and even rode the lift together to take a group photo at the summit!
