Class of 1978 mini-reunion/picnic in ParisJan-Philip (“JP”) Brandt ('78) organized an impromptu, mini-reunion picnic on July 17, 2009 for his classmates. He invited them (with the AALFNY's assistance) to show up at the Champ de Mars (right next to the Eiffel Tower) along with Isabelle de Geofroy ('78) and Marie-Christine (Speyart) Van Hövell ('78). In addition to the organizers, these people attended the mini-reunion: * Nathalie (Caste) Calmettes, '78 * Françoise (“Frankie”)(M.) L., '78 * Régine Benjamin, '78 * Louis-Eric Durand, '78 They had a great time but, according to JP, "The picnic was interupted by an incredible rain and wind storm that took us all by surprise (as you can see in a couple of the photos.) We all headed back to my apartment to dry off and finish the champagne." From Régine: "Yesterday was special. I was a bit apprehensive. Had no idea what I was going to run into. I had a great time....Congratulations for pulling off a last minute get together. It was wonderful!" After 31 years we found ourselves curiously sitting on a blanket under the Tour Eiffel, thrilled to see how life turned out to be for us, gossip some most hilarious moments at the Lycée, but most importantly entering new, matured acquaintances, that probably never would have taken place so easily without our previously shared Lycée experience. This is really a formula to recommend to anyone turning almost 50 !" Others would have liked to attend but couldn't, and wrote: "Hi JP, sorry I can't make it tomorrow, have an outing with my girls to see Alvin Ailey. Fais moi signe si tu renouvlles l'opération.... Dr Jean Christophe Turot, '78 "I wish I could join you but I am in London. Please let me know of any other events. Lovexxx" Anna Steiger, '77 "Hi from the past JP: Unfortunately, it is a little too far from Cambridge, MA for a Paris picnic on Thursday. But it is so nice to be in touch with our class....Thanks, and have a great time." Aline Newton, '78 "Hi JP: I am in NY and cannot attend the picnic but wanted to say hi anyway! Best regards to all." Monique Deliyanidis, '78 "I would love to come , but I live in Australia! Do you remember me --Charlene Lachman. I knew some people from the Brandt family when we lived in Paris .....I have lost contact with everybody from that far back." Charlene Lachman, '77 |
