- Class of 1971 reunion in NYC

by Vivian (Wayne) Henderson
Oct 30, 2007

Our reunion two weeks ago was a great success. We had about 20 people [see list of attendees, below] from all over France, Switzerland, Seattle, Boston, D.C, NJ and NY! Most of us had not seen each other in 36 years....after the first moment of hesitation - would we recognize each other after all these years? It was like old times...truly a great weekend!

We started with a cocktail party at my house on Friday evening, October 19th, followed by a Saturday morning breakfast at Marguey Yates' mom's penthouse apartment on Central Park West (which her siblings and mom joined) and ending with a Chinese banquet dinner at Shun Lee Palace on Saturday evening.

Thanks again [to the AALFNY] for helping us by sending out an email to all the alum in your database. If you'd like to see some pictures, you can log onto www.kodakgallery.com.[Or, click on link below, under the pictures.] The log on ID is: londonviv [at] aol [dot] com and the password is lycee71.

Messages from alums who could not attend:

From Tania (Cooper) Patriota:
"Dear Vivian and friends, Thank you very much for your invitation for the LFNY Alumni Association reunion – very exciting! Of course, I would have loved to be there, and meet with classmates from (almost 40?!) years ago, and have tried to see how I could make it to NY on 19th and 20th October, but it will not be possible due to my work schedule. In fact, I will be in NY the following week (Oct 29 – Nov 1st), for work meetings, so if any of the 1971 graduates are around, I would be happy to have a drink together, All the best, warm regards."

From Helene (Nathan) Ikonicoff:

From Arlette Assael:
"Dear Viv, Serge and Ronald: I will not be joining you in October, but I'm sure it will be fun seeing everybody again. Please send me some photos of the event. Love to everyone, Arlette"

From Véronique Blamont:
"Terribly sorry, but I live in Paris."

From Olga (Kokkinopoulos) Bensadoun:

From Anne Gilmer:

From Sophie Kervaire:
Sophie"

From Guy Marchina:
"Je ne puis me rendre à New York et assister à votre soirée. A bientôt. Guy Marchina"

From Cécile Tardu:
"Dear friends: I wish I could say I'd be there with you other than at heart, but unfortunately an avalanche of work , of snow hungry tourists all wanting to book at the same time, has befallen my tiny office, and our faithful employee will be on holiday just about the time of the reunion. It feels a bit like a remake of the David and Goliath story, with me in the role of David, hoping God is on my side! Anyway, have a great time, as I am sure you will. If any of you take photos, I definitely would appreciate having a view. Also, here is my cell phone number, just in case any of you ever are in the Pyrénées and want to talk or visit.... Looking forward to that! Amitiés, Cécile"

From Anne Fernandez:
"Dear Vivian, I was very touched by your invitation and happy to hear from you all. I would have loved to be able to come to NY and join you during these two days but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this time. Anyhow, I'll stay in touch and please keep me posted on any other occasion... All the best, Anne"

From Kem (Knapp) Sawyer :
"I also have a conflict that day. I'll very much miss seeing all of you. If any of you will be in the Washington, D.C. area, please let me know. And keep me posted about the next reunion. We need to plan more of these. Kem"

From the office of Dominique de Villepin:

From Soukeyna (Boyé) Spivey:
"Hi Vivian, Thank you for the kind e-mail; I was aware of the Reunion through several folks who contacted me and my intentions were to attend just to reconnect a bit with my past. However I will be on a business trip out of the country most of the month of October and I do regret not being available for what promises to be a great time. I hope that we keep contact for a future reunion. Best regards, Soukeyna."

From Anna Welsing: "Thank you Vivian, Ronald and Serge for your kind invitation. I will not be able to make it to New York, and send you my very best wishes for a very happy 19/20 October reunion. Please give my very best regards especially to the class of Marjory Yates, Tanya Cooper, Marie (?) Siegel and the gentlemen Lapid, Levi, Charles Brown, Charles Buchet…. We called each other mostly by our last names, I forgot some of the first names. Kind regards, Anna (in New York from 1964/5 to 1966/7)"
