Letter from the Council

Winter 2002-2003

Alessandra Gagliardi ’86

President

Alumni Council of the

Alumni Association of the Lycée Français de New York, Inc.

New York, Dec 31, 2002

Dear fellow Alumni,
Almost forty years ago, the volunteers of the Lycée Français Alumni Association sowed the seeds of a global alumni community. And has our garden blossomed in the last few years! The result is a renaissance of interest in the AALFNY, which spans the globe.
In fact, because interest and support of our Alumni family has become so widespread, we have expanded our operations by setting up regional associations to help fellow alumni plan local events and reunions. We are pleased to welcome the Paris Association. (See article, REGIONAL ASSOCIATIONS, for further details.)
Since our last report, the AALFNY has hosted successful alumni events in both the United States and abroad, including the “Soirée Cinématique et Gastronomique” which drew alumni, parents, and guests. We also supported and helped the Paris committee initiate the “Soirée de Retrouvailles” held at The Frog and Princess pub. Through our website, our “Find-a-Classmate,” we have put hundreds of alumni in contact with one another.
Further, the Association has supported the Lycée’s student programs, such as playing a prominent role in the school’s first "Take Our Kids to Work Day”. (See article TAKE OUR KIDS TO WORK.) We took out a fully paid advertisement in the 2001-2002 school yearbook to honor and welcome our newest members: the class of 2002!
We also supported the Lycée's development initiatives: Alumni Council representatives attended numerous school-organized functions, including: the Gala, Fête du Printemps, various cocktails and an alumni dinner sponsored by the school’s Development Office.
It has been this council’s distinct pleasure to represent you for the last two years. Our terms are now up and elections are once again upon us. (To cast your vote, see BALLOT.) To the outgoing members of the council, I would like to say thank you and congratulations on a job well done! I trust that our new council will continue to honor our commitment to the alumni community by effectively representing all our alumni, both young and old, near and far. Our slate of candidates for the 2002-2004 term of office is indeed a reflection of our diversity.
Wishing you joy and peace in the upcoming holiday season,
