My hobbies are waterskiing, skiing, scuba and skydiving." ● Andrew Dareys wrote: "Dear LFNY Alumni: I attended the LFNY a bit less than 2 years (95th and 93rd St. buildings), but I have great memories of LFNY and many of my classmates (Andre Casteybert, Antoine Fobe, Philip Newlin, George Fraise, Mauro Gabriele, George Katapodis, Michael Kasselian, to name just a few from 2nde and Premiere B). Since then, I returned to my place of birth, Mexico City, to pass my Baccalaureat in the French Lycee of Mexico, then returned to the USA to attend NYU undergraduate (Class of 88) and graduate school at Stern School of Business (Class of 1996). Prior to Business school, I spent 6 years working at AT&T Bell Laboratories before running off to Europe after graduation in 1996, specifically Paris /Spain for 4 years in Banking (where I crossed paths with Mauro Gabriele), then London for Consulting. In 2002, after a severe economic downturn following 9/11, I landed a job in Mexico City in the Telecom Sector where I continue working for Mr. Slim´s Telecom companies. In the middle of all of this, I was able to have a son which I am very proud of, Lucca Antonio Dareys Maley (now 8 years old), who currently lives with his mother in Austin, Texas. I travel very frequently to Austin, so unfortunately, I have not been able to visit New York City. I returned for the first time in 15 years to New York City a few weeks ago (what a positive change!!) and obviously did not see any of you, given that I have been out of touch for a while. I will continue my travels with more frequency to NYC and would love to catch up with some or all of you: I sincerely want to re-connect with my LFNY classmates, not exclusively (I found a long time ago that all LFNY people are interesting and fun!). Please let me know where are you, how are you doing, I would love hearing news from all of you. All the best, and Merry Xmas 2012!" ----- From November 2010 AALFNY Newsletter ----- ● Roger de Montebello "will be showing in London soon... the exhibition can be viewed in the attached catalogue." Belgian, vietnamese of origine. Adopted by Belgian parents. I left the Lycée in 1975 or '76. I remember names such as Marc Zeitoun, Micha Zabotin, Robert Mouton, Elisabeth Van Bockstael, Lisa Bialkin, Jean-Paul Morreau, etc. My father worked for Unicef, so we have travelled a lot. After New-York, we went to Thaïland, after Abidjan. Since then, I live in Belgium. I have a master degree in family therapy and sexuality. Now I'm looking forward to find time to do a doctorate. But time flies and responsibilities eat one's up. My daughter is 17 years old, and next year will be entering a university for biochemical studies. I wonder where she got those qualities, for I'm far from being able to understand anything about that. My husband, a journalist, and I have two guest-houses in the Belgian Ardennes. It was an old townhouse and village school which we have renovated in four years. You can see the pix at www.alacourderecre.eu. Painting and writing are still my passion: 'Pas de fatalité' is a poetry book edited at the Dossiers d'Aquitaine, and paintings have been exhibited in different countries. You can see pix of them www.carolinedanois.com [or, click on link below]. I'm preparing two exhibitions in Madrid and France. Actually, I'm working on different psychological programs on post trauma, family secrets, adoption case studies, and grief works. Otherwise, my husband and I are developing different artistical events at our guesthouses. My brother Etienne ('74), nine years elder and who graduated from the Lycée, is living in Madrid with his wife and daughter. He is an engineer, worked for Schlumberger and now is counselor. And she’s very curious and wants to know what makes people tick. She is an award winning filmmaker, political activist and aspiring jazz singer. Her documentary film “OF CIVIL WRONGS & RIGHTS: The Fred Korematsu Story” won two Emmys in 2001. She is a founder of EMERGE, a leadership training program for Democratic woman across the country who want to run for political office at the local and state levels; and of Women Count, a national nonpartisan media campaign and educational program that mobilized women voters for the 2000 elections. Twice San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown appointed her to the SF Commission on the Status of Women, where she still serves. She was the West Coast Director of Gloria Steinem’s Voters For Choice, the largest non-partisan, independent pro-choice political action committee in the U.S. During years of political burnout, Dorka produced documentaries for television.
