A fun exhibition. There is something in it for everyone." ----- From November 2010 Newsletter ----- ● The classes of '79, '80, and '81 had class reunions in NYC and Paris in September, 2010. (See Reunions & Events section of this newsletter, or click on link below, for two detailed "comptes rendus" by Christine Auclair, Nathalie (Girod) Buet, and Tuki Chabou-Péladeau.) ● "I had the pleasure of meeting Shawn Warren, former psychologist turned jewelry designer extraordinaire, at her Los Angeles launch event a few weeks ago, and discovered a true talent whose eye for design is impeccable. Her collection, which ranges from whimsical yet classic, to modern interpretations of antiquities, is exquisite. What is truly exceptional about her designs is that they can be worn with a cocktail dress or with jeans and a t-shirt. I love versatile pieces like these and the price points are incredibly reasonable as well......." Unfortunately, she died in June 2007. She was a wonderful mezzo-soprano, best known under the name of Alexandra Montano. She was living and working in New-York. Among other musicians, she used to work with Philip Glass. I had the opportunity to see the show La Belle et la Bête in Paris, at La Cité de la Musique. She sang the "Belle" part. It has been a huge success. Her two children, Gabriel and Luna Garzon are still living and studying in New-York. Gabriel is a very talented guitar player. Music runs in the family, obviously." (For more tributes, and a biographical sketch, see the In Memoriam section of this newsletter, or click on link below.) ● Jean-Eric Lavenir wrote: "After the Lycée, I completed secondary schooling through correspondence courses while in Nigeria then Kenya, doing some published wildlife photography on the way. I obtained my Bac in Mauritius. I graduated from Sciences Po then served as a Naval Flight Officer in the French Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Clemenceau during peacekeeping operations in Lebanon in 1983-84. In 1987, I married Elisabeth and started a career with fashion and fragrance groups (Caron, Revillon, Lagerfeld, Courrèges, Scherrer, Léonard), spending 7 years in Asia then holding general management positions in Paris. My hobbies include classic sailing around Hyères (Var, France), diving, photography and fine food (at 45, I obtained my most "challenging and cherished" degree: a C.A.P. in boulangerie et viennoiserie at Ecole Grégoire-Ferrandi/Paris and trained for a year with a Meilleur Ouvrier de France. I saw Philippe Masson ('79) again in New York quite some years ago; some might remember that in 7eme and 6eme, we were buddies and always up to no good! I'd be delighted to receive news from former classmates from 7eme (1971-72) and 6eme (1972-73) at [email available upon request] and to meet up with alumni visiting Paris." ● Annyvonne (Messing) Jeanmaire shared this with us: "Living in Paris, France and working in compliance/banking, which is actually very interesting these days. Between three kids (25, 23 and 15) and work, I’m happily busy." ● “Born in France, Eric Poullain started living in the U.S. from age 7, and was raised alternately between Europe and the U.S. until he completed his secondary education. He attended mostly private schools to finish at the French Lycee of New York. After studying Business Administration at Temple University, .... he was drawn to the service industry. He worked in and managed some of the most exclusive restaurants in New York, developing strong contacts with his high-profile and celebrity clientele.... All the while, he was investing in real estate, which he realized was his true passion. His experience as an investor and landlord have given him a deep understanding of this business.... Because he is multi-lingual, he often works with international clients and is well versed in all aspects of the business, be it investment properties, commercial, residential, new developments or rentals....."
