Alumni Open House at New Building
Held on Nov. 19 '03
by Christopher Kende ('66)
The " New" new Lycee building was put on glorious display at a cocktail party hosted by the Lycee for alumni on November 19. I refer to it as the "New" new building because "new building" for me will always mean that awful construction next to the original 95th Street building, erected when I was in 8eme (there now you all know how old I am).
Anyway, the cocktail party featured tours of the new Lycee by students, a short speech by the Head of School, Yves Theze, and brief remarks by yours truly, the new Chair of the Alumni Board. The atmosphere was congenial and many old aquaintances were renewed as well as new ones made. The students seemed to love the new facilities and every alum I spoke to was highly complimentary of the physical plant. I personally was knocked over by the kitchen facilities! If you are in the area and have not yet seen the new school, I urge to to arrange for a tour. You will be impressed.
My thanks to the AALFNY for including this short note in their newsletter. Christopher Kende/
Editor's note: The "Alumni Board", which Chris now chairs, reports to the Development Committtee of the Lycee Francais. It is not the same as the "Alumni Association" (AALFNY), which is independent from the Lycee and which is responsible for this on-line newsletter.
